ACI Partners: Legal Flash No. 10

The Parliament has amended the Collective Convention No 2 of 9 July 2014 on Working and Rest Time.

The following important amendments may be highlighted:

- Employers have been obliged to make available free time to pregnant women, as it may be necessary for their prenatal medical examination.
Such free time shall be considered working time and shall be paid correspondingly.

- Employees have been obliged to inform their employers, 15 days in advance, in writing, about their intention to suspend their partially paid leave for child care (or unpaid leave for child care) and to return to work.

- Fathers have been granted with the right to paternity leave. Paternity leave is a paid leave for a period of 3 days, given within first 56 days after childbirth, upon written request of the employee.

- Duration of the lunch break shall be included in the working time of certain categories of employees, as follows:
  - employees from companies with continuous flow of production;
  - employees whose specifics of work require their continuous presence at the workplace, such as: guards, bodyguards, receptionists etc.
