In order to satisfy the increasing demand for its container logistics services between Constanta South Container Terminal and the Republic of Moldova, Danube Logistics increases the capacity of its feeder vessel by 50%. In addition, due to completion of rehabilitation works of Giuriuglesti-Cahul rail segment, Danube Logistics in collaboration with Moldovan State Rail Way, is now able to establish a weekly block train service to transport containerized cargo between Giurgiulesti and Chisinau.
In order to meet customers’ demand, Danube Logistics decided to charter a larger vessel with a weekly capacity of up to 240 TEU and to introduce a weekly block train service between Giurgiulesti and Chisinau into its logistics chain. Following the completion of the customs formalities at Chisinau railway station, Danube Logistics then delivers the containers to its clients by truck.
Thomas Moser, the Chairman of Danube Logistics, stated: Our new tri-modal container logistic service will not only help us to satisfy the increasing demand but also reduce the transit time and make the customs clearance process more efficient, as well as reduce heavy truck freight traffic on Moldovan roads. We are grateful for the good co-operation we experienced with the State Railway, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Economy, and the customs services which enabled us to set up the block train service in a short period of time.
