Danube Logistics: Facilitating the Access to New Markets for Moldovan Agriculture Goods

As container transshipment volumes rise, types of operations conducted via the Port diversify. Following the record harvest this year, Danube Logistics started to transport sea containers with grain from Moldova, via Giurgiulesti port, to Asia and Turkey. The first 143 containers filled with Moldovan left from Giurgiulesti port to the Philippines, Malaysia and Taiwan in August.

“We believe our international container forwarding services will be in high demand until the end of the year due to the record harvest and the availability of highly competitive transportation rates to Asia” stated Thomas Moser, chairman of Danube Logistics.

Danube Logistics offers Moldovan importers and exporters international door-to-door container transportation services in collaboration with major container shipping lines. Danube Logistics is the general investor and operator of Giurgiulesti International Free Port as well as the operator of a weekly multi-modal container transportation service between Moldova and the port of Constanta.

Danube Logistics, Giurgiulesti International Free Port

Giurgiulesti International Free Ports (GIFP) entire 120 ha territory has a status of a free economic zone and consists of an oil product terminal, a grain terminal as well as a general cargo and container terminal including a RoRo ramp (start of operation by September 2011). Due to its location on the Lower Danube with available water depths of up to 7 meters, GIFP is capable of receiving both inland and sea-going vessels.
