Till the end of this year, TeliaSonera intends to invest app. 180 million lei in the development of Moldcell mobile communication operator infrastructure. 

This statement was declared by the President of TeliaSonera Lars Nyberg during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Moldova Vlad Filat on February 22 in Chisinau. The meeting was also attended by the President of TeliaSonera Eurasia business area Tero Kivisaari, the vice president of TeliaSonera Eurasia Halim Ates and the general manager of Moldcell company Chiril Gaburici.

Lars Nyberg noted that TeliaSonera, as the major shareholder of Moldcell company, intends to continue investing in the Republic of Moldova. Mr. Nyberg also mentioned the importance of country’s stability and progress for success in business. "The prosperity of a country surely contributes to its’ business development," - explained Mr. Nyberg. TeliaSonera representatives welcomed the results of Moldcell activity in Moldova, especially emphasizing good human capital, which demonstrates the good capacities and promising potential.

The Prime Minister Vlad Filat ensured that the Government would take all measures to liberalize, regulate and ensure safety of foreign investments in the Moldovan economy.

The major shareholder of Moldcell, the Swedish-Finnish Company TeliaSonera, provides telecommunication services in the Nordic and Baltic countries, the emerging markets of Eurasia, including Russia and Turkey, and Spain. Moldcell Company started its activity in Moldova 10 years ago, on April 28, 2000.
