AmCham Expressed the Business Community’s Position on New Environmental Taxes and Payments

AmCham Moldova participated in the public consultation organized by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Moldova on environmental taxes and payments.
During the discussions, the business community drew attention to the risk of significant increases in environmental payments, the overlap of existing obligations, and the need to align new charges with mechanisms already in place, including extended producer responsibility and existing environmental systems.

AmCham Moldova emphasized the importance of adequate transition periods, phased implementation of rates and obligations, clear calculation rules, and alignment with European Union practices, including carbon taxation and payments for emissions.
The business community remains open to constructive dialogue and balanced solutions that support both environmental objectives and economic competitiveness.
