Ministry of Economy: The Administration of FEZ Balti will create a technical training center having as a pattern the German model

 A center for active technical training is to be created at the initiative of the Ministry of Economics of Moldova in partnership with University of Ilmenau and the Vocational Academy of Eisenach in Germany. The Center will be built in Straseni and will train annually around 1000 skilled workers and 100 operational managers for the industrial companies form the Free Economic Zone (FEZ) Balti and the sub-zone Straseni.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Lazar, this is a pilot project which could be implemented in other regions of the country as well, since it is vital to train specialists in professions which are high demand in the labor market. Furthermore, V. Lazar argues that this could be as well considered a prototype for reforming the whole system of vocational education.

The Center aims to improve the education and training of young people and workers and to facilitate the job of enterprises in training employees. The principle of the Center consists in providing trial training and it also includes the involvement of the state, educational institutions and private companies in the process of studies.
The administrator of FEZ Balti, Marin Ciobanu, says that the Center will have a dormitory with 25 places for students. Also, he states that the training process will be structured in three “routes of professional training”. The direct route of professionalization involves preparing skilled workers and it is to be achieved with the help of the enterprises resident or non-resident in FEZ Balti. The progressive route of professionalization, inferior cycle , includes preparing operational and functional managers and will be implemented in partnership with the Technical University of Ilmenau in Germany. The progressive route of professionalization, superior cycle , consists of preparing top managers and is to be organized in collaboration with the Technical University of Moldova.

These steps relate to the qualification levels of the International Standard Classification of Education UNESCO (ISCED-1997).The assessment and certification of the graduates will be conducted by a joint committee, which will include lecturers from the faculties of the Technical University of Moldova, representatives of companies from FEZ Balti and specialists of the Ministry of Education of Moldova.
