Adjustment of the Minimum Salary Threshold for Foreign Workers

Following an extensive process of consultations and dialogue with public authorities, a key amendment to the Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners has been adopted. The amendment specifically targets the minimum salary threshold applicable to foreign nationals working in the Republic of Moldova.

As a result of this legislative change, the minimum salary that employers must offer to foreign workers has been reduced from 100% to 50% of the national average wage.

This adjustment will facilitate the employment of foreign workers in sectors facing local labor shortages, reduce costs for businesses, contribute to maintaining competitiveness, and help preserve balance in the labor market.
