Purcari Winery: The Winner of the Purcari Promotion Enjoys a Stay in Bordeaux

The big winner of the "Purcari celebrates 185 years" promotion, Marina Latii, was awarded a stay in Bordeaux. The promotion was held last year, to celebrate the founding of the winery almost two centuries ago, and has registered more than 6,000 participants from Moldova and Romania.

Marina Latii, an accountant by profession, opened a bottle of Purcari wine three days before the end of the promotion, during a family dinner and got lucky. Thus, in late June, Mrs. Latii claimed her prize, indulging her senses at one of the greatest French chateaus.

"It was a holiday full of impressions! Most of all I enjoyed the vineyards, " relates Mrs. Latii, accommodated in a 5 * hotel near Chateau Smith Haute Lafitte "that created a perfect setting for our vacation. Also, I have seen how the classical French barriques are manufactured and last but not least I admired the beauty of the vineyards at sunset, sipping French quality wine. The excursion lasted 1.5 hours, during which we visited the chateau and got to know its history. In Bordeaux, and Smith Haute Lafitte is no exception, each chateau produces only 2-3 types of wine, but they bring their quality to perfection. We tasted two wines - Smith Haute Lafitte Blanc and Smith Haute Lafitte Rouge – which had a divine taste and aroma. "

185 YEARS OF HISTORY
Since Purcari Winery’s founding in 1827, its wines were highly appreciated for over 185 years at the Russian Tsar’s court as well as at the Royal House of Great Britain. The first gold medal was awarded in 1878 at the World Exhibition in Paris, when French experts were profoundly impressed by the rich flavor and intense color of Negru de Purcari, which surpassed even Bordeaux wines.

Today, Purcari wines is the holder of more than 140 medals awarded at various international competitions and is the most expensive brand in the premium category in the Republic of Moldova.
