ACED:The Agricultural Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project Publishes Moldovan Greenhouse Design Manual

  • 13.07.2012

The Agricultural Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project (ACED), funded by the government of the United States, has published a Moldovan Greenhouse Design Manual – a step-by-step guide to the design and construction of low cost greenhouse facilities appropriate for the needs of high value agricultural (HVA) crop producers in Moldova.

Moldovan agriculture is very sensitive to weather conditions and is struggling to sell high quality produce to international markets. The new Greenhouse Design Manual supports the efforts of HVA participants to extend their production season and mitigate the uncertainties of weather. It describes the types of greenhouse construction, equipment and the materials used in their construction. It also prioritizes a step by step process of improvements to be made either in retro-fitting existing greenhouses or constructing new ones.

The Moldovan Greenhouse Design Manual was drafted by Gregg D. Short PE, a U.S. greenhouse engineer contracted by ACED for the assignment. The guidebook can be downloaded from ACED’s website www.aced.md, in English and Romanian. Hard copies can be obtained free of charge at the ACED Office in Chișinău (Kentford Building, 3rd floor). Please call (+373-22) 595265 to request one of more copies.
