BCR Chisinau: BCR Chisinau awarded the special prize within the National Youth Business Plans Contest 2012

JULY 9, 2012, CHISINAU – BCR Chisinau awarded the special prize for innovation within the National Youth Business Plan Contest 2012, in the amount of 15 thousand lei, for one business plan providing the implementation of the energy audit for the industry and residential sectors. The author of the business plan is Dumitru Comerzan, one of the Contest participants.

Also, BCR Chisinau supported the participants in the National Youth Business Plans Contests 2012 by appointing its representatives as members of the jury, as well as mentors for these young people.

"Entrepreneurship support and financial education of the youth are strategic priorities included in the community policy of BCR Chisinau. We believe these are the basic pillars for a healthy socio-economic development. The fact that we offered a special prize for the current business plan that comes to contribute to achieving energy efficiency in residential and industrial area, confirms our attention to economic development and innovative projects”, said Sorin Andrei, CEO of BCR Chisinau.

Moreover, we, together with the European Business Association, decided to provide the finalists of the National Business Plans Contest the opportunity of training in areas such as marketing, business ethics, banking, legal aspects of busines, energy efficiency, within the framework of the Summer School for Young Entrepreneurs", added. The National Youth Business Plans Contest 2012, the VIIIth edition, was organized by the National Association of Young Managers of Moldova (ANTiM) in cooperation with Junior Chamber International Moldova (JCI Moldova), with the support of ARGIDIUS Foundation and local partners, between February and July.

For the first time in the contest history the participants have received an amount of money between 3 and 10 000 EURO, to start a business. The grand prize of EUR 10,000 was won by Aliona Moraru, for the business idea related to the purchase of toasted compound feed production.

1366 young people with business ideas applied for this year’s edition, 324 of them were invited to the interview. Of those present at the interview, 55 people were selected for participation in trainings, which were held for over two months (April-May 2012). Supported by a team of trainers and mentors - businessmen and professionals from different areas, the participants reached the final stage, presenting their business plan according to contest requirements.

The business plans contests are a recognized method to foster new ideas in the developed countries, has a very rich history. Since 1980, such contests have widespread increasingly actively, being organized by government agencies, large corporations and the major university centers, such as Wharton, Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Massachusetts, Ivey, Oxford, and Cambridge.
