ACED: Agricultural Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project Launches Own Website

  • 04.05.2012

The Agricultural Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project (ACED), co-funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), launched a website at www.aced.md.
Aced.md is an online tool to help ACED brief its partners, the business community, the media, and especially apple, table grape and tomato producers about the activities of the project with regard to the high value agriculture (HVA) in Moldova. The website offers news, interviews, and events information, as well as ACED studies, analyses, and other reports.
Users can also subscribe to the ACED Bulletin, which will be sent periodically to subscribers’ email addresses in PDF format or by post in hard copy. Visitors can also subscribe via the RSS Feeds in order to receive ACED news instantly.
An interactive map of Moldova shows where ACED has conducted activities around the country, including seminars, round tables, field visits, and where the project’s beneficiaries and partners work. Visitors are advised to read terms of use and privacy policy before using the website and send their comments to info@aced.md.
ACED is currently developing a Value Chain Support Center (VCSC) website for HVA participants which will contain a business directory and analytical information on agricultural value chains. The VCSC website will help seed producers, growers, post-harvest handlers, cold storages, exporters, and supermarkets find more business opportunities. The VCSC will also act as a marketing tool to build linkages with foreign partners and to take part in international trade events. As the project progresses, ACED will add more value chains to its activities and include more producers and agriculture-associated businesses from additional districts of Moldova.

ACED is a program jointly funded by USAID and MCC aimed at expanding and improving high value agriculture production and marketing in Moldova. The ACED program covers four areas of activity that are implemented in partnership with local service providers: developing linkages between Moldovan producers and local and international buyers; providing training for Moldovan producers to help them meet the requirements of international buyers and local supermarket chains; offering technical assistance in management, post-harvest handling, planning, marketing, and other areas to value chain enterprises; strengthening the business environment by enhancing the government’s phytosanitary inspection and certification capacity and facilitating targeted policy change to encourage investment in high value agriculture.
