Mediterranean Shipping Company: MSC opened a new branch office in Moldova

Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC), the second largest container shipping company in the world, will offer container transportation services to/from Giurgiulesti International Free Port via Istanbul from/to more than 586 ports and thousands of inland destinations.

MSC was Danube Logistics’ first client for its new weekly service between Istanbul and Giurgiulesti International Free Port (GIFP).During its first call at GIFP, the maritime vessel MV Kalana discharged a total of 142 MSC containers. Over the weekend the ship is expected to sail to Istanbul with the first 23 MSC export containers carrying Moldovan grain. The containers will ultimately be delivered by MSC to purchasers of the Moldovan grain in Taiwan.

Alexander Di Leonardo, the Managing Director of MSC Moldova stated on the occasion: “In order to be even closer to its existing clients and to better serve new customers, MSC established a new branch office in Chisinau, Moldova. MSC will offer competitive tariffs and transit times in order to support customer needs. The first clients already booked containers from Far East and other destinations to Giurgiulesti International Free Port and the other way round. We are convinced that the new weekly feeder service will become a success story.”

MSC will without a doubt provide an excellent service to Moldovan and international companies wishing to import or export containers to Moldova. The new service will furthermore provide international companies a cost and time efficient opportunity to transit containers via GIFP to Romania, Ukraine, Belarus or Russia.
