East Europe Foundation: Orphan Young People and Children receive support from EEF-M!

180 orphans from six schools are attending two-year vocational courses on woodworking, tailoring, cooking or agriculture, the classes for which were fully equipped within the project implemented by NGO Verbina and supported by EEF-M. Negotiations with local businesses started in order to facilitate the hiring of trained orphans.

Social Orphans in the Ungheni district are being assisted by EEF’s NGO partner, Alternative Sociale. Ten orphans have been selected to take part in professional courses and are now receiving training as part of the project and another 25 orphans who have already taken part in professional courses are learning how to write a CV and find a job.
Cahul Boarding School for orphan children was transformed into the Complex of Social Services for Children and Young People. EEF’s NGO partner, Partnerships for Every Child contributed to the refurbishment of the vocational workshops (woodworking, tailoring, cooking, computer literacy) for young people and children residents of the center.

Playing is an important educational and personal development activity.  Starting with October 2011  children hospitalized in the “Mother and Child Care Center” and children from Institute of Oncology can spend their time in four Playrooms recently opened by the NGO “Prietenii copiilor” (Children’s Friends)., Additionally, seven boarding schools for orphans were visited by mobile playrooms within the same project. This initiative was part of the project “On the Play-Bus towards a perfect childhood”.

These projects have been supported by East Europe Foundation - Moldova from financial resources offered by the Swedish Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark/DANIDA through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
