DANUBE LOGISTICS: Giurgiulesti`s Medical Center renovated & re-equiped

Giurgiulesti International Free Port and the Red Cross of Konstanz (Germany) renovated and re-equipped Giurgiulesti’s Medical Center. On October 26, took place the official opening of the Giurgiulesti Health Center after its renovation. The construction works included the installation of a new roof, the renovation of hospital’s wards and laboratory, installation of new flooring, doors and windows, creation of a sanitary room including shower, renovation of utilities, as well as the construction of a new sewage system. Danube Logistics, the owner and operator of Giurgiulesti International Free Port, donated in excess of USD 47,000 for the renovation of the medical centre and the Red Cross Konstanz (Germany) donated equipment worth in excess of USD 18,000 for the realization of the project. The equipment donated by the Red Cross Konstanz arrives from Germany and consists of an ambulance, medical equipment, specialized medical furniture and many other instruments and materials. As a result of the project Giurgiulesti’s 5000 inhabitants as well as other people living in near-by villages will have access to significantly improved medical facilities.

Giurgiulesti International Free Ports (GIFP) entire 120 ha territory has a status of a free economic zone and consists of an oil product terminal, a grain terminal as well as a general cargo and container terminal including a RoRo ramp (start of operation by September 2011). Due to its location on the Lower Danube with available water depths of up to 7 meters, GIFP is capable of receiving both inland and sea-going vessels. Against this background the GIFP serves its clients as: - the only direct sea/river-borne transshipment and distribution point to and from the Republic of Moldova, - a regional logistics hub on the border of the EU with access to road, European and Russian railway, river, sea, and - an excellent business location, because of its strategic location, tri-modal transport infrastructure, low cost environment and a unique customs and tax regime.
