After more than four years of discussions, negotiations, working groups and meetings, the Government of the Republic of Moldova approved the amendments to the Regulation on the way of crossing the state border of goods subject to control by the National Food Safety Agency.
The amendments were developed at the initiative of AmCham Moldova with the participation of other business associations.
As a result of the amendments to the Regulation, 10% of shipments of food products of non-animal origin and products that are used as ingredients for the preparation of food products intended for human consumption will be subject to identity control.
It is worth mentioning that until these amendments, AmCham member companies reported that since the moment of application of the above-mentioned Regulations all consignments were always subject to all three types of control (documentary, identity, and physical checks).
The Regulation also provides for new border inspection posts, risk analysis for the border surveillance and control Program in the field of food safety and the updated list of tariff codes of food products of non-animal origin intended for human consumption subject to food safety control.
AmCham welcomes these changes and uses this opportunity to thank all parties involved.
AmCham will continue to strive for ensuring optimal and fair operating conditions for all its members.
