Trade & Manufacturing Committee, May Updates

These weeks, the activities of the Trade and Manufacturing Committee were particularly intensive.

As AmCham Moldova submitted several comments on the draft „List of goods subject to the limitation of exposure on shelves”, AmCham Executive team and several members attended the consultation meeting hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development, and Environment. Following the public consultation session, it was agreed that AmCham will return with an updated position paper.

On May 29th, AmCham Moldova met with the National Food Safety Agency leadership to obtain an update on the implementation of Regulation on the border-crossing mode of goods that are subject to control by the National Agency for Food Safety (Government Decision 938/2018).
 
Environmental legislation continues to be a hot topic within the Committee. AmCham Moldova became a member of the National Committee on the ”Support in implementation of the Minamata Convention in the Republic of Moldova by strengthening the capacity to eliminate and reduce the risks associated with mercury” Project. 
At the invitation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), AmCham members are expected to e-attend the 1st Regional Capacity Building Online Workshop on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Eastern Partnership countries. The event will take place on Friday, 4 June 2021.
Following the public consultation session hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure on May 14th, regarding the draft criteria for establishing the international mail exchange zone, AmCham Moldova submitted additional commentaries.
