2. Project background
The World Scholar's Cup (abbreviated as WSC) is an international team academic program with students participating from over 75 countries. The competition was founded in 2006 and since then more than 50,000 scholars yearly compete in cross-curricular academic challenges in science, social studies, history, arts, literature, music and other special subjects. The World Scholar's Cup organization has stated that its aim is to attract students interested in learning beyond typical school curricula and to focus on bringing students from different cultures together to discuss issues and ideas relevant to today. WSC is a celebration of the joy of learning, a tournament as rewarding for the team as for every individual, an enrichment opportunity that motivates students to discover new strengths and practice new skills. WSC contributes to growing of future leaders for global community.
Each World Scholar's Cup round consists of four main events: the Scholar's Challenge, Collaborative Writing, The Team Debate, and the Scholar's Bowl. In addition to these four main events, noncompetitive activities take place, for example, Talent Show and Cultural Fair. These activities are both social and academic, and are intended to provide a friendly atmosphere for participants.

3. Experience of participation in the project
On March 13, 2019 a regional round of the World Scholars Cup took place in Chisinau, Moldova. A team from “Mircea Eliade” Theoretical Lyceum from Chisinau: Marian Bodaci, Andreea Nicoara took the first place in the senior division (children of 14-18 years old), was qualified and took part in the Hague WSC Global round along with other 1900 children from 51 countries. That event was held in Netherlands on July 20-26, 2019. Moldovan teams showed very good academic results, as well as were also active during the Talent show and Cultural fair. The team was qualified to the final stage of the WSC contest – the Tournament of Champions that is organized in Yale University in the USA in November 8-13, 2019.
4. Motivation regarding the participation within the Tournament of Champions in Yale, USA
Children made big efforts to study a very complex academic curricula, enjoyed very much participating in the Hague WSC Global round were had shown themselves and witnessed the scholars from more than 50 countries of the world, communicated with them and made friends. It used to be a very motivational experience that showed that strong internal motivation and ability of self-education can make a student competitive even if English is not his mother tongue and he does not attend a very expensive private international school. During the Hague WSC Global round was evident that scholars from Singapore, China, India and other Asian countries have very strong academic background and developed communication and writing skills. Our scholars have many things to learn from the best students of the world. The Tournament of Champions is an annual quintessence of the WSC contest and this is important for Moldovan qualified teams to participate in this event for the first time to get new skills and experience, become motivated for better learning in the future and spread the modern ideas of academic education further.
5. Expectations regarding the project
The World Scholars Cup is a contest that spreads the ideas of modern effective education, improving of important skills of communication, creativity, team-building and constructive thinking. This is important to spread a positive image of Moldova in the world, children that successfully participate in the international events make this very well. Moldova has talented children that may represent our country proudly. They may become future community leaders that will bring Moldova to better economic, social and political development.
Unfortunately, the participation in the Tournament of Champions in Yale, USA is an expensive experience and up to now, the parents covered all the costs.
However, children are the future of our country and it is worth to invest in them.
Therefore, we kindly ask you to contribute to sending of 2 representatives of Moldova to Yale in November 8-13, 2019, by supporting us financially and any contribution will be much appreciated. We are committed to promote all the sponsors and supporters of our program.
