The Government approved Regulation on formation of prices for socially important products (”The Regulation”). According to the Regulation, products are sold using freely set prices, except for socially important products. Such products are subject to state measures of price regulation. The new rules apply to all entities of supply chain of socially important products, unless otherwise provided by law.
The following falls under the category of socially important products: bread up to 600 grams, loafs (padlock-shaped) up to 300 grams, cottage cheese with a fat content of up to 5% including, without additions, buckwheat, butter, rice etc.
The following manner of price formation on the domestic market is established for socially important products:
• socially important products are sold at purchase prices/supply prices by applying trade margins not exceeding 20%, except for bread and loafs for which trade margins shall not exceed 10%;
• socially important products, both imported and domestic which have undergone processing in commercial units are sold with trade margins not exceeding 40% from the purchase price/supply price.
