Over the past few years, it has become an AmCham tradition to organize the Charity Lottery at the US Independence Day Family Picnic, which has constantly and without exception been a hit among the guests of the party. Besides the entertaining aspect of the lottery and besides enjoying a range of incredible gifts, it is also about raising money for a good cause.
Today, August 10th, all money raised from the lottery was contributed to the Association for Children with Autism from Moldova “Invingem Autismul”, member of the Federation for Rights and Resources for People with Autism from Moldova (FEDRA), which incorporates 11 Nongovernmental Organizations from Chisinau, Soroca, and Balti, and are dedicated to help children with autism and their families.
This year, AmCham supports the invitation of Dr. William H. Edwards, BCBA, for a one-week follow-up visit, which has a goal of training people who provide treatment for children with autism in Moldova and of developing and evaluating behavioral intervention programs for individuals with autism of all ages.
The number of individuals with autism in the world has been constantly increasing. The early intensive behavioral intervention, which is the best evidence-based therapy for individuals with autism, gives hope for many children and their family. It helps affected population to integrate into society, maximizes their autonomy through increased communication and independent decision-making skills and helps them to lead a normal life in the community. There is a sharp need in training therapists in Moldova who would be able to provide high quality interventions, which are the key for success.
We would like to thank everyone who took part in our lottery and, consequently, who offered their support to this charitable cause!
