Chisinau, Moldova - The first edition of the National Mentorship Project for Women, appropriately entitled Inspir-o ("Inspire Her"), has concluded. Launched in May with the support of the East Europe Foundation, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and the U.S. Embassy in Moldova, Inspir-o included numerous networking sessions, mentorship meetings, as well as cultural events.
With the overall objective of inciting more women to rise to top public office and managerial positions, Inspir-o is the first initiative of its kind in Moldova focused solely on mentorship. In view of that, Turcan Cazac associate Iulia Furtuna was among the program\'s 30 mentors, which represent the elite of Moldovan female leaders, crossing diverse fields from public office to non-profits and corporate jobs.
Iulia mentored Tatiana Iurco-Balan, Legal Counsel at Air Moldova and Director Tax-Back Moldova, and provided guidance in regards to the mentee\'s initiative of potential high impact for the education system of Moldova. The initiative consists in establishing a national internship program, structured as a public-private partnership. The program would build a network of business associations, embassies and multinational companies committed to granting internships to university students nationwide and thus contributing to raising a qualified and productive workforce - an imperative for Moldova\'s competitiveness and economic development.
Moreover, Iulia assisted Tatiana with the planning of the legal forum "Women in Law" that will be held in March 2014 in partnership with the business training company Evenda. In addition, Iulia imparted career advice, both specific to the legal profession as well as generally related to succeeding as a woman in a business environment of high responsibility.
