Turcan Cazac Law Firm: Alexander Turcan Co-Authors Handbook on Professional Liability for Advocates

Business lawyer Alexander Turcan and human rights lawyer Vladislav Gribincea have co-authored the handbook "Professional Liability for Advocates", which is a joint project of the Moldovan Bar Association and American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) Moldova. The project aims to educate advocates in ethics and professional conduct.
Alexander Turcan\'s chapter on professional liability includes a variety of insightful examples on legal malpractice, mainly from the US and UK jurisprudence. The chapter addresses such topics as errors and omissions committed in the course of the professional activity, risk management in relation to professional liability and professional indemnity insurance. Alexander specifically criticizes how Moldova\'s legal framework restricts the deduction of insurance-related expenses from the taxable income.
In his chapter on the disciplinary liability of advocates, co-author Vladislav Gribincea discusses the Code of Ethics of Advocates, the Disciplinary and Ethics Commission, as well as the Commission\'s procedures and issuance of decisions on sanctions, controls, etc.
The handbook on profesional liability for lawyers concludes the series of four handbooks developed and published with the support of ABA ROLI for Moldova\'s legal profession.
