Transportation costs, for first half of December, for 40” containers from China’s major ports to Giurgiulesti have dropped to USD 2,300 and to Chisinau to USD 2,850 as a result of Danube Logistics weekly inter-modal container transportation services between Chisinau, Giurgiulesti and Constanta.
The new service enables Moldovan importers and exporters to receive competitive prices from any of the 19 international container shipping lines providing worldwide container shipping services to and from Constanta South Container Terminal. Apart from the reduction in transportation costs, Danube Logistics service also enables Moldovan importers and exporters to avoid cumbersome and expensive inland transit formalities in neighbouring countries as the containers are transported directly between Moldova and Constanta with a maritime vessel via the Black Sea and the Danube.
Danube Logistics is the general investor and operator of Giurgiulesti International Free Port and one of the leading logistics companies in the Republic of Moldova.
Giurgiulesti International Free Ports (GIFP) entire 120 ha territory has a status of a free economic zone and consists of an oil product terminal, a grain terminal as well as a general cargo and container terminal including a RoRo ramp (start of operation by September 2011). Against this background the GIFP serves its clients as: - the only direct sea/river-borne transshipment and distribution point to and from the Republic of Moldova, - a regional logistics hub on the border of the EU with access to road, European and Russian railway, river, sea, and - an excellent business location, because of its strategic location, tri-modal transport infrastructure, low cost environment and a unique customs and tax regime.
