On august 19th took place the fourth round of the V1 Challenge championship in Moldova, sponsored by BEMOL. The 4th competition between the 10 Volkicars was held in Hincesti city, where not only the locals attended the event, but also visitors from Chisinau.
The event began with the traditional Volkicar show and qualification race. While the racing order between the 10 participants was being decided, a few lucky spectators had the chance to ride in Mitsubishi Evo cars alongside pro racers from Team 47. After the professional racers gave the spectators a great adrenaline rush, the event continued with the first Volki race.
The first out of the two races planned in Hincesti was a very spectacular and dangerous one. Out of the desire to overpass their competition, a few racers suffered a few accidents. Fortunately the accidents were not serious, but they caused the Volki pilots to lose time – which is very important in these races. Angela Andronic, in an attempt to surpass her competition, made a move that led to a collision with the other racer and causing her vehicle to stop functioning and being removed from the race track. Elena Potorac was trying to regain her place in the race and decided to speed up in order to catch up. Instead she lost control over the vehicle and ended up in race track barricades. Still, she managed to bring the car back on the track and finish up the race. Chiril Gaburici also ended up in the barricades which were close to the spectators – this way they had the chance to see the Moldcell Volkicar up close. The car was removed by the technicians from the track.
After the second race, the finalists were announced:
First place - Sergiu Gaibu ( BCR)
Second place - Mehmet Akay (cumpără.md)
Third place - Nicolae Chiriac ( sim-sim gsm )
Don’t miss the next to last race V1 Challenge that will take place on September 2nd in Chisinau!
