Nearly 430 Veterans of World War II and Chernobyl Catastrophe became beneficiaries of assistance from the charity project implemented by the East Europe Foundation -

Those who went through the tragic events were welcomed and honored by the Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family of the Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Valentina Buliga, by the Head of Philip Morris Management Services B.V. Representative Office in Moldova, Mr. Yevgen Kobets, and by the President of the East Europe Foundation, Mr. Sorin Mereacre. Also, the representatives of the Rayon Councils from Cahul and Ungheni contributed to the events at the local level.
„From me personally, and on behalf of the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, as well as speaking on behalf of the younger generations, I am addressing the most sincere words of recognition and esteem to the Veterans of World War II. I am also expressing the deep respect to those who participated in the cleanup of the nuclear accident in Chernobyl, considered the largest nuclear catastrophe of the XX century,” – declared the Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family, Mrs. Valentina Buliga.
Approximately 285 Veterans participated at the celebratory events in Cahul and Ungheni. Along with the charity dinners and small concerts offered by local art groups, the Veterans received sets of food. To those who could not joint the events, the food sets were delivered to their homes.
