Today, on June 8th, 2011, the whole world celebrates the World IPv6 Day. Moldcell company joined the initiative of the Internet Society (ISOC) to participate and support the World IPv6 Day through transition of the corporate site www.moldcell.md to a new standard, which represents the next generation Internet network.

Annually, more and more new devices with Internet connection are launched on the market of information technologies and telecommunications. Every device, mobile phone, computer, iPad, etc., has a unique IP address – a sequence of numbers allocated for every device connected to the Internet. The current IPv4 was implemented 30 years ago and has already some four billions IP addresses. The fast increase in the number of Internet users, devices and web services means the crisis of space for the present IPv4. IPv6 is an Internet protocol of the next generation, which offers more space and more innovations: extension of space allocated for addresses, easier configuration, Internet with globally accessible addresses, support for multimedia and real-time applications, and an increasing level of data security.

To resolve problems, generated by a limited range of public IP addresses, more Internet service providers and other organizations started transition to IPv6. Google, Facebook, Yahoo! are among major world organizations that offer content through IPv6 for a 24-hour "test flight". All participants, including Moldcell corporate site, offer today services through IPv6 during 24 hours.
The goal of the World IPv6 Day test is to motivate organizations from the industry to prepare systems for the successful transition to the IPv6 system of addresses, while IPv4 addresses will soon be insufficient.

Today, Moldcell company joined the efforts of ISOC, initiator of the project “World IPv6 Day”, to support and encourage faster transition to IPv6 that will lead to the growth of global performance of the Internet network.
