CHISINAU, April 04, 2013. The U.S. Embassy and the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova organized in Chisinau, a seminar entitled “Doing business with the United States." The event was attended by the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova, William H. Moser, Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Vlad Filat, representatives of the U.S. Embassies in Chisinau and Bucharest, members of the business community and foreign investors in Moldova.
Speakers highlighted the importance of a strategic approach to sustainable and competitive business, the role of business association in promoting reforms through advocacy and held presentations about various opportunities with the United States available to local and foreign investors in the Republic of Moldova.
“The seminar “Doing Business with the United States” offered Moldovan entrepreneurs the opportunity to be informed about business opportunities, and to learn from the experiences of successful businessman from U.S.A. Moldovan entrepreneurs need as much communication as possible with representatives of the business environment from countries like the U.S.A. in order to establish contacts, to use the know-how and best practices, and to expand into other markets. We live in times when valuable ideas have no borders and today\'s seminar is one of the ways to ensure their continuous flow”, said the President of AmCham Moldova, Cristina Harea.
Participants received information about existing U.S. government resources and agencies that support the development of trade and business. At the event were presented U.S. government financing programs, including U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and Export-Import Bank (EXIM).
The seminar explained the structure of current bilateral trade, including major U.S. exports to Moldova. It suggested potential areas for business development and discussed the benefits of applying the Generalized System of Preferences for Moldovan exports to the USA. The seminar highlighted the role of business associations in promoting reforms through advocacy.
