AmCham Moldova attended the plenary meeting of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister

On June 9th, the plenary meeting of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister, led by Ion Chicu, has been held in online format. The meeting was attended by AmCham Moldova and other business associations, Government representatives, donors’ & diplomatic community representatives, and think-tanks – members of the Council.

The Prime Minister has presented the evolution of the macroeconomic indicators, pointing at the severe effects COVID19 pandemic has produced on collections to Moldovan public budget and related negative consequences the pandemic has triggered.

Mr. Chicu has also presented the vision of the Government priority reforms aimed at improving business climate, among others: justice reform, fiscal reform, industrialization, liquidation of economic police, digital transformation.

Mila Malairau, on behalf of AmCham community, expressed the support for the presented reforms, but also pointed at the need to promote a balanced, non-discriminatory predictable Tax Policy for all economic activities.

The PM assured the business environment that the government would not resort to increasing taxes and would provide predictable conditions of work.

Note: AmCham Moldova is an active member of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of RM since its creation. Mila is leading the Working Group on elimination of constraints in entrepreneurial activity within the Council since 2016.
